Nishijinori in Kyoto is a luxurious silk textile which dates back to the 6th century. Nishijinori varieties include tightly-woven tapestry known as tsuzureori in which the design is woven in the dense weft with dyed yarn, and the cloth known as nishiki (brocade), woven on Jacquard machines using numerous coloured yarns. Various dyeing techniques may be found in Japan. One of greatest innovations was Yuzenzome, which is a resist-dye technique developed by Miyazaki Yuzen in the 17th century
