This book contains photos of fabulous 89 Fukusa works in full color at the exhibition called Fukusa -The Beauty of Exchanging gifts- held in Kyoto Culture Museum in 1991.
These fukusa's are from Edo(17c-19c) and Meiji period(19c-early20c).
The preface says; 'The fukusa in this exhibition are kake-fukusa used in the veremony opf exchanging gifts. The fukusa began were originally protecting covers for the gifts. The use of the fukusa reveals a Japanese delicacy of feeling that is expressed in the proper care of objects, the thoughtful use of things and in sympathetic concern for other people'
