In the preface says;
'Expressing something that exists in one sense and doesn't in another-that is what art does. After Something Like Architecture, Sasayama moved back to the minimalism of Folding Screen. The new work, an aggreegate of flat panels that provoke our awareness of their planar surfaces, suggests its genetic legacy from Somethin Like Architecture, transmitted and allowed to multiply.
Sasayama's work, again reborn in ultimate forms, shows us who stray from the path how difficult it is for humans to break free from karmic cycle of rebirth.
Sasayama's work has changed in mysterious ways over time. After he had, it seems, completed a creative circle of rebirth, his latest work(in 1991) cannot really be subsumed under any one of his earlier approaches, yat is related to all of them. He is about to venture upon a new style. What is will be, eben he cannot predict. Ceremic artists must explore the wiles of their unpredictable demon. But my intuition tells me that Tadayasu Sasayama is about to launch himself to heights of ceramic art where divinity and demon share common ground'
