This book contains 60 wonderful quilts works from the 2nd exhibition '20 Quilters in Japan' in 1996. As the title shows, these 60 works were made by 20 quilters.
All photos are printed in color.
There are English translations on each page for the titles of works (and name of quilters), so you can know what each quilter wants to express through their works.
Ms. Jacqueline M Atkins, a specialist in American fold art and a quilt historian, says in this book (text in English),
'Although quilting is a recently borrowed craft, this exhibition makes it clear that Japanese quilters have benn extraordinarily successful in incorporating it into their own cultural framework. The Japanese enthusiasm for quilting shows no sign of abating , and, to my mind, the quilters here have only begun to test the waters of creativity and invention.
I look forward to the innnovations in quilting that the coming millenium is sure to bring'...
