Who is Taikichi Irie?
Taikichi Irie (November 5, 1905 – January 16, 1992) was a Japanese photographer. He concentrated on Yamatoji (historical sites of Nara Prefecture) and Buddhist statues.
There is Irie Taikichi Memorial Museum of Photography Nara City in Nara.
Each of his photos is very artistic.
This item contains 132 photos of Buddhist images photo by Taikichi Irie including 59 National tresure and many Important Cultural Assets.
All 132 photos on this book are colored.
Those photos were taken in historical and famous temples such as Todaiji-temple, Koufukuji-temple, Houryuji-temple and so on.
*Todaiji and Koufukuji are listed as UNESCO World Heritage
Those buddhist images are from 7 to 13th century and very important heritage in Japanese history.
This book is large format and deluxe edition, so this will be very valueable to have as your own.

As appendix, there are 5 pieces of color buddhist images (large format). All of them are registered as National Tresure. Another appendix, a map shows Nara city, Todaiji, Koufukuji, Horyuji, Tosyo-daiji, Yakushiji.
The afterword in English says;
'Taikichi Irie was born in Nara in 1905 and has never lost his love for his birthplace. His carrer as a photographer has been devoted to pursuing the beauty and wonder of the Yamato region.
Ignoring all climatic conditions he has relentlessly endeavored to capture all of the many moods. seasonal changes and nuances of his beloved countryside.
His techniques, developed over many years of hard labor, allow him to give full justice to his subjects. There are non whose works contain the same skill, delicacy and love as those of Taikichi Irie'...
