【DESCRIPTION】
Title Sotasu and Korin Rimpa Book of Paintings

This bok is composed of 2volumes and is a super deluxe edition.Very large and Thick one.
Rimpa (琳派), also romanized as Rinpa, is one of the major historical schools of Japanese decorative painting. It was created in the 17th century by the artists Hon'ami Kōetsu (1558-1637) and Tawaraya Sōtatsu (d. c. 1643). Roughly fifty years later, the style was consolidated by brothers Ōgata Kōrin and Kenzan.
Tawaraya Sōtatsu (Tawaraya Sōtatsu) (fl. early 1600s) was a Japanese artist and also the co-founder of the Rimpa school of Japanese painting. Sōtatsu began to work as a fan-painter in Kyoto. Later, he rose to work for the court as a producer of fine decorated papers for calligraphy. He was highly influenced by Kyoto’s courtly culture.
His work,Wind God and Thunder God Screens is designated as National treasure.
Ogata Kōrin (尾形 光琳, Ogata Kōrin), 1658 - June 2, 1716) was a Japanese painter and lacquerer. He was born in Kyoto, to a wealthy merchant who had a taste for the arts and is said to have given his son some elementary instruction therein. Kōrin also studied under Soken Yamamoto, the Kanō school, Tsunenobu and Gukei Sumiyoshi, and was greatly influenced by his predecessors Hon'ami Kōetsu and Tawaraya Sōtatsu.
His work,Red and White Plum Blossoms,is designated as National Treasure
